Communicating Technical Excellence to the Church

About Us

Hi, my name is Curt Taipale. I'm the founder of ChurchSoundcheck, contributing author to Yamaha’s "Guide to Sound Systems for Worship", author of "The Heart of Technical Excellence", and creator of the Church Sound Boot Camp.

During my 40-year career in pro audio, I’ve lived it from every perspective - professional musician, recording engineer, live sound engineer, church tech volunteer, Audio Director and Technical Director in three churches, AVL integrator, and as a consultant designing AVL systems and room acoustics.

I earned a Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of Miami, where I majored in recording engineering under Bill Porter (Elvis Presley's audio engineer). Bill created an encouraging, synergetic learning environment in the recording program there, and as students we were always eager to show each other new techniques we had learned. That joy of teaching stayed with me and to this day I love teaching aspiring sound techs how to get the best quality from the equipment they already have to work with.

Keep Learning!

ChurchSoundcheck was established in 1997 to encourage and allow the free exchange of ideas and knowledge between peers, an objective which underscores our mission statement of “communicating technical excellence to the church.”

Members include church technical support ministry teams who volunteer weekly in the areas of church sound, video, lighting, and staging, plus technical staff and exceptionally brave music pastors.

You will also meet consultants, contractors and system integrators who specialize in the design and installation of performance systems and acoustics for churches and have a heart to share their knowledge.

As a CSC Member, you can expect to ...

  • Experience exclusive content and conversations you can’t find anywhere else.
  • Meet people who share your interests, who live near you, who do the same things, and who care about the same topics.
  • Make better, more well-informed decisions about the things that are most important to you.
  • Swap stories, experiences, and ideas around our shared mission.
  • Find a little inspiration, thought-provoking conversations, and expert perspective each and every day.

The diverse background of our members, located all around the world, makes for a well-rounded, balanced dialog. It is truly a safe place for new techs to learn the basics of audio, and for seasoned techs to share their knowledge with one another.

Case in point. I've made my living in pro audio for 40 years (and counting), and yet I continually learn new techniques and concepts through the conversations on ChurchSoundcheck.

How would you like to experience that for yourself on a daily basis?
